How does Laser Tattoo Removal work? Without getting too deep into the science, the method essentially works like this. Lasers are capable of passing through the upper most layers of the skin and directly target the tattoo ink residing inside the body. The heat of the laser can be thought of as "aggravating" or "upsetting" the tattoo ink, causing it to break down. The ink breaks down and then the body leverages its own natural immune functions to remove the newly broken down ink. At that point, the immune system sees this tattoo ink as an outsider, as something foreign to the body, and so the body protects itself from the ink by getting rid of it.
